SAGICOR TEAMS UP WITH OPEN JUNIOR

Sagicor has joined forces with the Barbados Chess Federation to sponsor the "Sagicor Open Junior Chess Championships", which begin on Monday July 14^th 2004 at the NUPW Auditorium, Dalkieth Road.

This is the 21^st year that the Open Junior will be held and based on pre-registrations it will be the largest staging of the event to date. 

Open to players born on or before January 1^st 1983, over twenty overseas players from Trinidad, Jamaica, Surinam and Curacao are expected to compete.

The largest overseas contingent will come from Trinidad with several of Trinidad’s top juniors registered including two prior Open Junior Champions, Sean Perryman the 1999 Champion and Alan Munroe last year’s winner.

The Jamaican contingent arrived yesterday and will be making a strong showing lead by 2003 Jamaican Junior Champion Alain Morais (picture) and 2002 Champion Daren Wisdon.
